Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Andreas Flaig as executive vice president of development, Asia Pacific. Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Andreas Flaig as executive vice president of development, Asia Pacific. Based in the Singapore office, Flaig reports to Thorsten Kirschke, president for Asia Pacific and will be a key member of the Asia Pacific executive committee. In his new role, he will oversee the regional teams based in Singapore, China, India and Indonesia in securing new management contracts as well as franchise and conversion opportunities. Flaig has been in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years, of which 16 years were in Asia. His expertise is in hotel development, investment, and asset management and one of his key strengths is in development strategies including market entry into China and Indonesia . He joins Carlson Rezidor after more than eight years with Jones Lang LaSalle’s (JLL) Hotels and Hospitality Group where he held a dual role of MD for both Advisory Asia and China, based in Beijing and Shanghai. During his tenure with JLL he advised investors on the acquisition of hotel assets, portfolios and companies and negotiated hotel management and franchise agreements between owners and operators. Prior to that, he was first VP for Aareal Bank AG in Germany where he started the bank’s first hotel advisory and asset management practice and led its expansion in Asia with the establishment of the Singapore office. As senior associate director, hospitality consulting, Flaig also led Arthur Andersen’s Hospitality Consulting practice in Asia, based in Hong Kong and Singapore . He has extensive experience in hotel operations, having previously worked with InterContinental and Mandarin Oriental in Europe and Asia. Born in Germany, he has a Bachelor of Science with distinction from Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration. |
